Buzly is built with privacy as a core principle. We do not sell your data, we do not serve ads, and we give you full control over what information is shared and how it is used. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We do not require your real name, phone number, or physical address.
We store content you voluntarily create on the platform, including messages in servers and channels, forum posts and comments, uploaded videos and images, calendar events and meeting data, and profile information you choose to provide.
We collect minimal technical data necessary to operate the service, such as session tokens for authentication and basic server logs for security and debugging purposes.
If you enable AI features, some of your activity data may be processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate personalized suggestions and summaries. AI features are disabled by default and require explicit opt-in during registration or in your Settings. If you have AI disabled, none of your data is sent to any AI provider, even if other users interacting with your content have AI enabled.
We use your information to provide and maintain the Buzly platform, authenticate your identity and secure your account, deliver the features you use (messaging, forums, video sharing, etc.), and send transactional emails like password resets (if configured). We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Your data may only be shared in the following limited circumstances: with Anthropic, our AI provider, if and only if you have opted into AI features; with law enforcement if required by valid legal process; and with service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g., hosting), under strict data processing agreements.
Direct messages on Buzly are end-to-end encrypted using ECDH key exchange and AES-GCM encryption. This means we cannot read the content of your private messages, even if compelled to do so. Voice chat uses DTLS-SRTP encryption for secure real-time communication.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can disable AI features entirely from Settings, preventing any data from being processed by AI. You can delete your account, which will remove your personal data from our systems. You can control what profile information is visible to other users.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Encrypted messages cannot be recovered after deletion as we do not hold decryption keys.
Buzly uses only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies.
Buzly is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.
We employ industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), hashed and salted passwords, end-to-end encryption for direct messages, regular security reviews, and minimal data collection principles.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the platform. Continued use of Buzly after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
